Band Site in the Works

Hey LZ Band Family...

We're in the process of updating this site to become the main source for information regarding LZ Bands. The high school site will still have basic information regarding classes, contacts etc., but this site will be used in tandem with the Band Boosters site to help promote and inform everyone what a great band program we have. If you have ideas how we can improve the site-let us know!

Busy times in LZ Band

It's been a while... Things are hoppin' at the high school. Lot's going on. Jazz Concert Tonight. Band Concert next Wednesday, Just finished the Rolling Meadows Jazz Fest last Saturday. Student Teacher Andrew Jacobi doing a great job with us-following in his father's footsteps.  Lot's of students doing lots of great things. Solo & Ensemble contest this Saturday at Loyola Academy-some highlights-a sax quartet doing an arrangement I did of a Bela Fleck tune; a trumpet trio doing Anderson's Bugler's Holiday; a brass choir doing a work by J. S. Bach that is unbelievably before it's time in terms of harmony and complexity, two freshmen sax quartets, a clarinet choir, a french horn choir, plus much more and lots of Solos! I can't wait to see how everyone does!

Berklee Playalong site

Again, found an really great site devoted to learning jazz standards. Who needs to buy a bunch of playalongs. Check out this site: http://learningresources.berklee.edu/public/PFD/
It's got tunes written over 45 great jazz standards. You can swtich between whatever instrument you want to and playalong tracks come up on their own. It is super user friendly and a great resource!

GREAT Jazz Site

So you don't have money to buy a bunch of playalongs or real books. This site is for you. Talk about a really great way to study tunes and to learn them.
